"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies.
The man who never reads lives only one."
- George RR Martin
Being immersed in an English class is one of the few places and times in life where self-judgement is checked at the door. Once we step foot into an English class, we realize that characters are extensions of actual people. Suddenly, our quirks are seemingly normal, our concerns about life are shared, and our inability to make sense of the world is understood.
The beauty of being an English teacher is having the chance to mold confidence into students by watching their understanding of complexities of human nature come to life.
