About the instructor:
I grew up in Illinois and graduated from Illinois State University in 1999, where I received my Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication Education with a minor in English. I lived in Houston, Texas for 14 years, where I obtained my master's degree in Speech Communication from the University of Houston in 2007.
I am in my fourth year at WHS, but it is my 17th year of teaching. My career started at the middle school level, teaching primarily Language Arts and Speech. After six years, I moved to the high school level and have been teaching English 10-12, Speech, and Debate ever since. I am also an adjunct lecturer for Indiana University and teach the dual-credit speech course. Another area of focus for me is coaching the Speech & Debate Team.
I have been married for 16 years and have two children. I am a Naptown Roller Derby skater and also enjoy running (particularly distance running - I have done three marathons). Other interests include being a Girl Scout troop leader, researching nonverbal communication, reading, and enjoying the great outdoors.
