Hello! I am Dawn Grinnage and I have been teaching at WHS since 2008. I currently teach sophomore English and ACP Public Communication with an American Lit class thrown in every once in a while.
I am a graduate of Purdue University where I received a degree in communications specializing in public relations. After college I worked in media relations and event marketing. During this time I coached high school girls’ basketball and decided that teaching the game was the part I enjoyed the most; so, after getting pregnant with my third child I decided to go back to school. I obtained a secondary English teaching license and continued on to earn my Masters in Education.
I have 3 children who are all (or were) Shamrocks. My oldest is at Purdue, my middle is here at the high school with me and my youngest is at the WMS. We spend a lot of time at sporting events, participating in community service projects and traveling. We are big fans of the Colts, Cubbies, and Boilers and try to catch as many games as we can.
I am also the sponsor for the Leo Club, Ski and Snowboard Club and the National Honor Society. These activities keep me very busy but also involved with the students and that is the best part of being a teacher.
As of 2017 I am also the coach for the newly formed Unified Track Team.
