Welcome.  My name is Carroll Easterday serving Westfield Washington Schools as Director of College and Career Readiness. A great aspect of my work is the opportunity to collaborate with the WHS team of counselors and building administrators. One key goal is to help all students be best prepared to achieve strong transitions into post-secondary career training pathways leading to fulfilling careers at – 2 year colleges, 4 year colleges, certification programs, military training and other high quality credential programs.

It’s all about fit. Students come to college and career training program decisions in a variety of ways and for varying reasons. Finding your best fit is a result of willingness to define the college and career training program characteristics that are most important to you. All colleges and career training programs possess unique features, which makes them distinctive. Identifying what is important to you is the foundation for a great fit. Interested in learning more about finding your fit? Check out the College Application Book for Class of 2018 link to the right to learn more.

Students in grades 11 and 12 who are interested in meeting with me, may access the meeting form, “My College Search” at the provided link on the right side of the page. Return the form to the Main Information Desk.  Mrs. Bonnie Vollmer will follow up by email confirmation. Parents are welcomed at individual meetings! Meetings are scheduled during 5th and 6th periods Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The following listing represents some of the issues students discuss during meetings:

  • Discussion on college “fit”
  • Undecided about a choosing a major or post-secondary plan
  • Candidacy for merit scholarships
  • Review and application essay feedback
  • Concerns, special circumstances, putting best foot forward
  • Advice on the college admission process
  • Taking time off before pursing post-secondary training
  • Interview preparation advice
  • Making the most of campus visits
  • Emotional and social issues related to making the transition to post-secondary training programs

Meetings with Mrs. Easterday are at student request. I am excited and proud to collaborate with a building team that cares deeply for the unique journeys and successes of all students.  The WHS Counseling team works to offer an amazing array of programs, academic planning, and information offerings supporting College and Career Readiness. Be sure to take full advantage of all planning resources provided by the WHS Counseling Center!
