This letter is to inform you that there is a case of Varicella (chicken pox) at Westfield High School. Although 98% of students at Westfield High School have received the state recommendation of two doses of the varicella (chicken pox) vaccine, there is still a small chance that they could get the chicken pox. The symptoms of chicken pox include:
- Skin lesions
Skin lesions start as a small blister rash for 3-4 days. These lesions then scab. Lesions could come in several crops, so there may be various stages of development. Lesions tend to be more abundant on the trunk of the body.
If you have any questions regarding the varicella vaccine or the chicken pox, please contact your doctor.
